China Kunming
Kunming is the Capital of Yunnan Province, south west china, an old city, in 1997 the largest Horticulture fair ever held in China was held in Kunming, several 5star Hotels were built and a new Airport. a large area was demolishes in the residential area, to make way for buildings to represent many countries that partisapated in the Horticulture Fair. they built small displays to represent there country.
Most popular attractions in and around Kunming, the Mountain, a Large Lake and Stone Forrest, also there are several ethnic groups of village people, they dress in very bright clothing, and have there owne Temple's.
I was told during world war two when the Japanese invaded China, universitys from the East China transported there literature and books to Kunming so as to prevent the japanese from destroying them.
My introduction to Kunming was in 1985, i met a lady in Guangzhou in a shop, across the road from the International Hotel where i was staying, she gave me her phone number and invited me to come to kunming next time i came to china, I was warned agains going there by my Contact in Guangzhou, but it would have taken a major disaster to stop me. as it turned out our relationship lasted for ten years. Her Family were very influential in Kunming, her Father was a famous Doctor, Mother lectured at the University as a Taxadermist, Brother a policeman, Sister a Western Doctor and younger Brother drove a new Jeap for one of the Large Hotels.
Kunming is a good city to start your holidays in China, the people are friendly and its not too big, and the Comunist influence is not noticable in this City, like haveing a lady visit your hotel room. Withe the new Airport it is easy to fly in and out of this City.
